“Delivering a Space Baby in microgravity” this may sound crazy and sci-fi, but we need to accept, it is the future!

Space Baby – A Crazy Plan

As per plans 2024, a first human child could possibly be born in space under ‘the Mission Cradle 2024”. The mother and a group of trained medics would be send-off to space, 250 miles above the earth. The mission is expected to be 36-hours long.

“The woman would not be exposed to normal G-forces during takeoff, and special low-radiation orbits would be chosen to minimize exposure”, the company said.

A Startup – Space Life Origin

Netherland-based company – Space Life Origin has announced under mission ‘the Mission Cradle 2024” to host first-ever human childbirth in space.

The team consists of few entrepreneurs, business experts, and scientific advisors. The aims are to initiate the human colonization in space by allowing humans to reproduce on other planets too.

The company executive describes the mission as ‘’a small step for a baby, but a giant baby-step for mankind’’.

“A related project, Mission Lotus, would aim to achieve artificial human conception in space by 2021. An incubator containing sperm and eggs would travel to space and return four days after an embryo had been conceived.”

A short note on Mission Cradle 2024 from the official website

“The next step in our evolution. A pregnant woman will give birth in outer space. Well prepared and safely supported by a medical expert team. Another major step towards Life Beyond Earth.”

“It’s a small step for a baby, but a giant baby-step for mankind,” said Dr. Egbert Edelbroek, Space Life Origins Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer. A bold yet realistic objective of Space Life Origin is the actual birth of the first human baby in space. During a 24-36-hour mission, a woman will give birth at 250 miles above Earth, accompanied by a trained, world-class medical team. A carefully prepared and monitored process will reduce all possible risks, similar to western standards as they exist on Earth for both mother and child.”
